FAQ
-
What versions of Microsoft Word is Doc Scrubber compatible with?
Doc Scrubber supports Word documents in the classic .DOC format (the default format in Word 97, 2000, XP, 2003).
-
What about the new .DOCX format used in Word 2007?
Doc Scrubber does not currently support the new .DOCX format used by Word 2007/2008. However, this format also does not contain the same metadata as the old .DOC format.
-
What about .DOC files created with the new version(s) of Word (2007)?
Doc Scrubber should still work with these files, but you may find that the new version of Word simply doesn't store as much metadata in them.
-
Do I need Doc Scrubber if I have Word 2007 and use the new .DOCX format?
Not if you only plan on using and scrubbing the new .DOCX files. But many people still use the older .DOC format (and older versions of Word), and many older .DOC files still exist all over the Internet. Doc Scrubber lets you discover very interesting information in those files, and ensure that files that are being passed around by users of older versions of Word are clear from potentially embarassing metadata.
